Greetings brothers and sisters… Pastor Rob here
As most of you know, I have been dealing with a very unpredictable malady called Parkinson’s disease. I appreciate all of you who have been praying for me. I believe I have finally found the proper balance in my supplements to keep the symptoms at bay. So please, keep praying!
The simplest way to describe Parkinson’s disease is to call it a short circuit in the body’s electrical system. The signals from the brain do not have a clear pathway to certain areas of the body, so, things go haywire! Hands tremble; feet drag when walking; fingers lose their coordination; breathing becomes difficult… When there is a poor connection between a member of the body and the brain, that member does not function as it should.
In the New Testament, the church of Jesus Christ is likened to a human body and Christ is the head of that body. Every believer is a member of the body with a specific function to perform, and every believer has a direct connection to the Head. Each member of the body receives its marching orders from the “brains of the operation”…the Lord Jesus Christ! When all the members are vitally connected to the Head, then the whole body functions together beautifully. However, when certain members have lost their connection to Christ, things go haywire, for there is a short circuit in the electrical system!
So, how is your connection to the Head? There are many things that can cause a “short circuit” between you and your Lord: Lack of prayer; Lack of Bible intake; Secret sin; Bitterness in a relationship. But when there is free fellowship between you and Jesus, He can communicate to you moment by moment His plan for you in the church and you can joyfully function as you serve your brothers and sisters. You have been called to play an important role in the body of Christ, but you can never fulfill your purpose in the Body if you are disconnected from the Head. Today would be a great day to get “plugged in” to the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the source of all wisdom, love and power!
